So, most of you know, if you follow me on Face Book, that we have started camping. I have camped my entire life, (in a big heavy canvas tent).
Now it’s much easier. This birthday weekend I reserved two side-by-side cabins for Don’s family to join us at Wind Creek State Park on Lake Martin.
It was a beautiful spot with trees, grass and a pier for fishing. Our dog, Zach, had a great time smelling fish and running to tell me “they caught another”.
While Don was still fishing, my artsy friend, Tree, and I set up a table with Apoxie Clay and showed the family how to use this medium to make Don a gift.
A simple something to share with him that night at his birthday dinner/campfire. I was amazed with all the different perspectives, concepts and messages. From simple to extravagant. Here are some examples:
But the very best (no judgement) was made by Tim, Kelli’s new fiancé:
This was so much fun. Don was truly grateful for the weekend and our family time together. We even ate gooey S’mores !!!
Next trip is to Taos and Santa Fe this summer in our camper. Each trip brings more understanding and delight.
Stay tuned.
